Alan Jackson Drives Increase In Christian Music Sales

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- The Gospel Music Association reports that sales
of Christian music were up slightly last year, due almost entirely to
country star Alan Jackson's "Precious Memories" CD.

Jackson's collection of gospel favorites had sales of more than $1.25
million -- almost as much as the next three best-selling Christian CDs
combined.

The second-best seller, at just under one-half million, was Flyleaf's
self-titled CD.

Kirk Franklin's "Hero" was third, followed by Casting Crowns'
" Lifesong," with sales of almost 400,000.

The top Christian CDs of 2006 also included MercyMe's "Coming Up To
Breathe," Third Day's "Wherever You Are," and several WOW compilations.
