Tuesday’s Larry King Live, as Jackson Continues to
Take a Leading Role in Benefits for Hurricane
Relief
Alan Jackson continues amid the
forefront of country artists stepping forward to
assist with relief efforts for the victims of
Hurricane Katrina. Even as CNN’s Larry King Live
prepares to air a performance on Tuesday from
Jackson’s September 10 concert, word arrives today
that the three-time CMA Entertainer of the Year
will participate in an October 1 mega-concert in
Houston, TX, pairing Jackson with Kenny Chesney,
George Strait, Martina McBride, Willie Nelson, and
a host of others coming together for One Country:
A Concert to Benefit Victims of Hurricane
Katrina.
Tickets go on sale this Friday for
the concert event, with all proceeds going toward
the relief effort. CMT – Country Music Television
is set to cover the show live beginning at 8 PM
ET.
One Country marks the latest in a
string of benefits gaining an assist from the
Georgia native, beginning with his September 8
concert, from which Jackson donated his proceeds
to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.
His September 10, Philadelphia-area concert
generated $3 from every ticket sold for the relief
effort, with donations from Jackson, venue Tweeter
Center, and WXTU-FM Philadelphia parent Beasley
Broadcast Group. CNN’s Larry King Live sent a crew
to capture Jackson in concert at this show,
filming his “Rainy Day in June” (from his current
disc, the Platinum-certified What I Do) for
broadcast tomorrow night.
The same
night as his Philly show, Jackson traveled to New
York to participate in the mammoth, multi-genre
benefit special, ReAct Now: Music & Relief,
which aired on CMT, MTV, VH1, and sister MTV
Networks stations.
Also previously
announced is Jackson’s participation in Country
Reaches Out: An Opry Benefit for the American Red
Cross, to be held September 27 at the Grand Ole
Opry House in Nashville. The commercial-free event
will air live beginning at 9 PM ET on GAC – Great
American Country and its sister networks DIY and
FINE LIVING.
Fans can see Jackson’s
performance on Larry King Live on Tuesday,
September 13, at 9 PM ET on
CNN.
