Jackson delivers dose of pure country

Published: Sunday, August 28, 2005
By Matt Sutkoski
Free Press Staff Writer

ESSEX JUNCTION -- Alan Jackson served up the musical equivalent of tasty comfort food at his show Saturday at the Champlain Valley Fair.

So the offerings weren't particularly daring. The crowd sure ate them up. And why not? Jackson's songs had all the warmth and conviviality of a small-town family diner that's been in business for generations. As always, Jackson emphasized family, love, memories and fun, all delivered in that smooth deep trademark Georgian voice. As always with Jackson, the music, the songs, the lyrics were pure tradition; , no bells and whistles. Just country music, straight up.

As Jackson himself sang, too much of a good thing is a good thing.
