Tuesday, 04/19/05 CBS sitcom stars appear in Alan's video
The CBS comedy Yes, Dear definitely loves Nashville. The show, starring country music fans Anthony Clark and Mike O' Malley, has had Trace Adkins, Travis Tritt and John Hiatt in guest star roles. Now, Alan Jackson has returned the favor. He cast Anthony and Mike in his latest video, for the song The Talkin' Song Repair Blues, about a songwriter's run-in with a songwriting mechanic. The two Yes, Dear stars were in an old garage, Hewitt's, in Lynnville, Tenn., in Grundy County late last week to be stars of Alan's video. And there must be some CBS watchers in Lynnville: Those on the set say about half the town showed up to gawk and to try to meet Anthony and Mike, who graciously signed bunches of autographs and posed for dozens of pictures for the locals.
So how much do them L.A. boys like country music? Anthony, video director Margaret Malandruccolo and staffers from Nashville-based Revolution Pictures, which produced the video, even ended up at Tootsie's honky-tonk on Lower Broadway Friday night. Did they have some longneck beers? Yes, dear. Trick Pony stud really gives us a big scare Wacky things are happening! Cats and dogs together! Keith Burns from Trick Pony (the one with the permanent three-day growth on his face) actually got serious in a phone call yesterday. First he told me with great joy that his first ever Trick Pony Celebrity Classic golf tourney May 2 here in Nashville already has sold out. Then Keith told me about the trio's latest video for their cover of It's a Heartache. ''It's a departure. It's not a party video. The storyline, it's very deep, and that's stretching for us. ... It's a heartache. It's not a happy ending. Not this time,'' Keith says. Do what? Who is this man, and what has he done with the real Keith Burns? ''Yeah,'' Keith continues. ''It was shot in Tampa, Fla., at one point in some cold water. In one part you can see how cold the water is. ...'' STOP! Hold up, fella! At least we got the ol' Keith back. DMX is a smash, but will he beat the rap? DMX got arrested after he was involved in a car crash in New York, the AP reports. It didn't help any that a police car was involved. The rapper was on the Major Deegan Expressway in da Bronx Friday when he hit a car, and that car hit an unmarked police car with two officers inside, the AP reports. The officers and the first driver all were treated for minor injuries at nearby hospitals and released. DMX, of course, didn't have a scratch. Police gave DMX what's called a ''desk appearance ticket'' and he'll have to show up in court next month. ''They live in constant danger in dusty, desolate desert camps, wearing body armor in sweltering weather, missing their loved ones. My trip only re-enforced what I already knew, the American forces are the finest in the world.'' • Titans linebackers Keith Bulluck, Peter Sirmon and Rocky Calmus are headed to Fort Campbell today to visit soldiers, meet with top brass, sign autographs and maybe recruit a few good men for the team. • Extreme extremities: Chely Wright got hit in the hand with a foul ball at a recent Sounds game, and just days later Chely got a bee sting on her little toe while she was doing a video for upcoming single The River.
