Alan Jackson
After Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson was
probably the most popular male country singer of the '90s. An heir to the
new traditionalist movement of the '80s, Jackson's approach was rooted in
classic honky tonk yet remained comfortably within the contemporary
mainstream.
Jackson's hallmark has beem his consistency -- he wrote many of his
own hits, and his way with a hook was part of the reason he never really
hit a commercial dry spell, even into the new millennium. He also projects
a modest, wholesome, down-to-earth image that made him one of the
best-liked stars of his era even apart from his music.
On his latest release 'What I Do' (his fourteenth for Arista
Nashville), the Country Music Association's reigning Entertainer of the
Year presents a collection of unabashed, jukebox-worthy country. Ever
walking the line between populism and memoir, the album's twelve songs
fully complement a fifteen-year career that has thus far produced over 43
million sales and 31 #1 hits. Fans will get to hear new favorites "The
Talkin' Song Repair Blues" and "Monday Morning Church" along with a host
of past gems. Sara Evans and The Wrights open this Shoreline Amphitheatre
