Album Chosen for People Magazine’s Mother’s Day Gift Guide, as GAC Readies Re-Airings of Precious Memories Special

NASHVILLE, TN – With Mother’s Day this weekend, superstar Alan Jackson’s ultimate musical gift to his mom captures the spotlight once again, as his Gold-certified ACR/Arista Nashville album, Precious Memories, is singled out by People magazine as one of the season’s hot gifts for moms everywhere. Featured in the May 15 edition’s Mother’s Day Gift Guide, the 15-track collection of classic gospel hymns was originally recorded for Jackson’s mother as a Christmas present, one which made chart history and met with a warm welcome from fans, after being released on the urging of Jackson’s family, friends, and record label.

This week, on Thursday, May 11, and on Mother’s Day, May 14, Great American Country (GAC) will re-air Jackson’s Precious Memories television special, which includes interview footage with Alan and his family, as well as performances of the album’s songs, taped live during a sold-out special concert at Nashville’s Mother Church of Country Music, the Ryman Auditorium.

Released February 28, Precious Memories became the only gospel recording ever to debut at #1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart. Jackson also became the first country artist in history to debut an album of all-spiritual material at #1 on the Top Christian Albums and Top Christian & Gospel Albums charts, remaining atop both charts for eight consecutive weeks.
