Rarely a prolific writer, Alan Jackson composed all 17 tunes this time for Good Time,
and almost every cut is steeped in contentedness. Maybe he figured he'd
better provide supporting evidence after his wife penned a best-seller
about their mended marriage. That isn't to say Jackson, the gold
standard of country's workingman courtliness, can't also play the part
of the sly spouse. ''Nothing Left to Do'' (follow-up line: ''...now
that we've done it'') is probably the most amusingly objective song
ever written about the routineness of certain marital pleasures.
